Time Stands Still
Since the death of Albus Dumbledore Hogwarts has been in mourning. After the funeral many parents, who felt the school was no longer safe without the former headmaster, took their children home. Professor McGonogall, however, knew that Dumbledore would not have wanted the school to close and so as newly appointed Headmistress she kept Hogwarts open for the few students who wished to remain.
Shaken by the death of his mentor and guide, Harry Potter swore vengeance upon Severus Snape, vowing never to rest until one of them was dead. He knew that he also must find all of the Horcruxes in order to defeat Voldemort, but not knowing where to begin he decided to go back to Hogwarts, along with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, in order to complete their seventh year.
Upon failing his task, Draco Malfoy had angered Lord Voldemort and now had a death sentence upon his head. Professor McGonogall allowed Draco to return to Hogwarts for his final year, and also for protection. The Slytherins did not welcome him back with open arms as he’d expected, and instead shunned him. While he remained a member of the house, the Headmistress also worried about his safety within the Slytherin dormitories. Instead he was housed in the Head Students quarters, normally reserved only for the head boy and girl. Professor McGonogall felt he would be well protected there.
So begins the school year of 1997-1998. Love and loss, trials and triumphs, paper and ink, the students have no idea what this new year will bring for them.
